Do you agree or disagree: Parents are the best teachers

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Parents are one of the most important person in our life. Some people say that parents are best teacher for their own children. While, unfortunately, many children in this world have not good experiences with their parents. In my personal opinion and experience, parents are not always can be our best example. Some children got their inspiration and knowledge more from their social environment rather than their parents.

Michael, my childhood friend, was born when his father has already die. At the moment, he is a CEO of iFishery, one of renown start-up company in my country. His mother had died when he was just 9 years old. Being grown up without parents, Michael showed me how to change all his unfortunate become power and good motivation. He loves read a book and have lot of friends. In my view, he learned and got many insight from his own social interaction rather than his parent who have died long before he got many achievements.

On the other hand, David, my senior high school friend has totally different life compare to Michael's life. He was born in rich family. His father was a doctor and his mother now is a well-knwon local politicians in our city. They all have blood line from ancient local kingdom family, Yogyakarta Kingdom. Despite all David's fortunate, now he has serious situation with drug and alcoholic addiction. Their parents are so angry with his condition. Instead of help their children to overcome the problem, Davis's father and mother leave him. In this case, I argue that David's parents are the example how parents turn out a bad teacher for their own children.

Generally, people can learn from everything and everyone. Sometimes we would find our enlightening from people other than our own parents. It is absolutely right to say that parents are important for their children, but it does not mean they also can be the best teacher.
